I dropped of the rental car in Portland and from now on I will travel by train till Chicago. Therefore the trip turns from a train watching focus towards a train riding adventure. In order to get as much daylight train riding as possible I paused in Seattle, WA for an afternoon and continued the next morning on to Canada, Vancouver, BC to be exact. So what can you do in Seattle if you have just a couple of hours and no other means of transportation than your feet? Well there are quite some things to see and do. I checked one, if not the, oldest frames market on the West Coast – Pike Place Market which features a huge selection of                groceries, snacks and gifts. The “original” Starbucks coffee shop is also in this area. And no, I did not get in line to get coffee there. After that I moved over, bypassing the Space Needle (I have gone up to the top during a visit some 20 years ago), to the EMP wich seems to be more of a “Nirvana museum” with some more artsy exhibitions around. Not that I say this is necessarily a bad thing. The architecture resembles the EMP mission and having the Monorail line going right through the building got it on the header picture. Last but not least I went below street level with the Underground Tour. This is an interesting and fun session in Seattles history and the founding of cities in the “Wild West”.
