Toronto’s Contemporary Classics

In Toronto I had the chance to experience the „classic“ Canadian Light Rail Vehicles of the TTC in action. These cars, built in the 1980s are to be replaced by more modern units by now but delays in delivery of the Bombardier Felxity vehicles keeps the CLRVs and ALRVs moving- much to the delight of the rail and streetcar fans. Besides of other rail attractions in downtown like the Toronto Railway Museum and the bustling Union Station, I managed to visit the awesome Art Gallery of Ontario AGO, to be seen in the back of the title picture. Remodeled by Toronto naive architect Frank Gehry , this is one of the biggest art galleries in North America showing contemporary art as well as well as historic paintings and  sculptures. One highlight of the exhibition is the large Henry Moore sculpture collection. When I roamed the halls of AGO I was happy to attend the special exhibiton featuring Lawren Harris –  „The Idea of North“.
