Weathering a CSX coal hopper
This is the first car weathering project using Pan Pastells. I’m quite happy with the outcome and look forward to more projects of this kind. The project started out with an Athearn model of a BethGon coal hopper that I picked up at my favorite train store in the Bay Area – The Train Store in Santa Clara. Interestingly, even as those cars are made out of aluminium prototype pics show some dust and grime that comes close to rust, especially in the black CSX version. So all in all this is a perfect candidate for a weathering job with Pan Pastells I thought and gave it a try.
